If you're craving something soft, chewy, and satisfying, these Fairy Sweet Potato Balls are your next must-try. Wrapped in glistening sago pearls and filled with melty cheese, every bite is playful yet deeply comforting. And at the heart of this recipe is the secret to that mellow, natural sweetness: Ship Brand Raw Cane Sugar (帆船牌原蔗糖).

Why We Choose Ship Brand Raw Cane Sugar

Unlike refined white sugar, our raw cane sugar retains more of the sugarcane’s natural minerals and aroma. Carefully crafted by Yuen Tung Sugar Factory, with over 30 years of experience, it adds a rich, full-bodied sweetness to your desserts, bringing out the best in every ingredient.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 100g sago

  • 150g steamed red sweet potato

  • 150g steamed purple sweet potato

  • 80g tapioca starch

  • 30g Ship Brand Raw Cane Sugar

  • 100g milk

  • Small cubes of cheese (for filling)

How to Make It

1️⃣ Soak & Cook the Sago
Boil the sago for 5 minutes, rinse, and set aside. This adds a bouncy, translucent coating for the balls.

2️⃣ Prepare the Sweet Potato Dough
Mash steamed sweet potatoes separately. Add raw cane sugar, milk, and tapioca starch. Knead until smooth and pliable.

3️⃣ Fill & Shape
Take a small ball of dough, add a cheese cube inside, and roll into a ball. Coat in cooked sago for texture and visual appeal.

4️⃣ Steam & Serve
Steam for 15 minutes until translucent. Serve warm and savour the melty cheese center, complemented by hints of natural sweetness from our raw cane sugar.
