After indulging in all the festive delicacies during the New Year, a cooling dessert like Pear Jelly is just what you need to refresh and balance your palate. This traditional yet innovative recipe combines the natural sweetness of pears with the cooling properties of goji berries and chrysanthemum, creating a soothing treat for the season.

Ingredients

  • Pear (雪梨): 1 (cut into chunks)
  • Red dates (紅棗): 3-4
  • Goji berries (枸杞): 1 tbsp
  • Chrysanthemum flowers (胎菊): 1 tbsp
  • Yellow rock sugar (黃冰糖): 30g
  • Agar powder or jelly powder (白涼粉): 10g

 

 

Instructions 

  1. Cook the Pears (煮雪梨):
    • Cut the pear into chunks and place it in a pot with 600ml of water.
    • Simmer on low heat for 1 hour.
  2. Add Red Dates and Goji Berries (加入紅棗和枸杞):
    • Add red dates, goji berries, and chrysanthemum to the pot.
    • Stir in 30g of Yuen Tung Sugar’s yellow rock sugar for a natural and healthier sweetness.
    • Let it simmer for another 10 minutes.
  3. Prepare the Jelly Base (製作涼粉):
    • Turn off the heat and mix in 10g of agar powder or jelly powder. Stir until fully dissolved.
  4. Pour into Cups (倒入杯中):
    • Pour the mixture into cups or molds and let it cool to set.
  5. Serve with Milk (搭配牛奶):
    • When serving, pour a splash of milk into the jelly and stir gently for a creamy texture.
